Please Join Us!

The Friends of Susan B. Anthony invite you to join us for our Annual Women’s Equality Day Luncheon.

On Saturday, August 24, 2019, we will celebrate the 171th anniversary of the women’s rights convention in Seneca Falls, New York in 1848 and the 99th anniversary of the Nineteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution (woman suffrage) 1920. The luncheon will feature an award presentation and a speaker. Reservations for the luncheon are available by clicking on this link.

2019 Recipient of Friends of Susan B. Anthony Award: Shirley Bloodworth

This year, we will honor Shirley Bloodworth for her dedication to civics education and issues affecting the elderly.

Speaker Professor Ann Christiano

Women and the Media: “Let’s Tell the Real Stories about How Change Happens”

So often, the stories we learn in history class obscure the deep levels of organizing and patience that led to that change. Professor Christiano’s talk, “Let’s Tell the Real Stories about How Change Happens,” will explore these levels and how critical figures often get left out of the story.

Professor Christiano is Director and Frank Karel Chair in Public Interest Communications in the Department of Public Relations at the University of Florida.

Luncheon selections include chicken breast with mushroom sauce or penne pasta primavera, both served with spinach strawberry salad, rolls, and dessert.

Please wear your Susan B. Anthony pin, “Women Count – Vote” and be sure to give us your email address to facilitate communication and delivery of next year’s invitation. Donations of any amount appreciated (since we have no membership dues) – full co-sponsorship: $50 or more.   For a copy of the sponsorship form, please click on this link.
